.............................................. David Masson found it difficult to decide just how good the weather was going to be with much showing of tepigraphs to allow us all to share his torment, although not sure just how well everyone was following! The early high cover proved to be a red herring to the sceptics; it cleared and conditions boomed and lasted all day and over a bigger area than anticipated. Pundits exceeded 9 hours; Justin flew 723k but was outdone by David Masson achieving a mighty 786k and winning the day. Proving his task setting skills, Paul visited the most gliding clubs, 17, covering 695k and 6 exceeded 500k, Bill Payton making 594k. Adrian’s Ka6e and 8 others were over 400k and 6 300k+. It really was a superb day, several rating it the best of the year, to one of the best known in the UK! Enterprising pilots went in all directions, from Bembridge, Ringmer and Parham in the south to Long Mynd, Talgarth, one to Sleap to the west, Hus Bos the furthest north and ? the furthest east. ............................................

Total distance flown by 25 pilots was 11,303k (averaging 452k per pilot) with 18 getting home.
